'Yo

Check back here often to read stories of the 'Yo church and fellowship with them in the name of Christ.

Send them an encouraging message.

'Yo, besides being fun to say, has been an exciting place to not be involved with . . . that is, it was the first church planted by a Dagara Christian. God used Severin to bring around 40 people to salvation in Christ in 2005. They vibrantly praise God in 'Yo and are now praying about and making plans to proclaim the good news in Yo-bagawn.

This morning Noah and I worshiped with the Christians in Yo. (A meningitis outbreak means that one of us needs to stay home with Benjamin. He is not yet vaccinated.) Three Christian ladies were already waiting where the church meets. They were a bit frustrated with the slow start and poor attendance this morning. About 10 women, 3 men, and 20 children gathered for worship. One prayer request is that more people take on some leadership and that they plan their services ahead of time. This church might be struggling with relying too much on one person. A wonderful praise is that they announced some baptisms. Tomorrow they will journey over to Yo-bagawn to baptize about 20 new Christians. This is in addition to the 60-80 Christians baptized at the time that they planted the church. [Yo-bagawn is a neighboring village of Yo] Thanks for your prayers. Chad Carter

‘Yo has been a constant encouragement to me over the last few months. There have been at least 15 adults at each meeting and they enjoy worshiping together. Severen has been teaching the church the Christian family series and it has been well received. Before each meeting, I have been teaching the leaders and whoever else shows up a series on leadership in the church. It has been exciting to see these church members gain a greater vision of following Christ. They have begun praying together. They started meeting earlier on Sundays as well. After their meeting, some of them will head off to other local churches to worship with them. Praise God for their faithfulness and pray that it continues as planting season arrives.

Bedside Church of Christ. Apparently when Yo says early they mean early! We showed up for worship at 9am. One remaining fellow said that worship had been over for quite a while (apparently starting at close to 6am) and that groups where headed to other churches to get a second dose!

We had a good time of worship with a small group of Christians (about 15) out in \'Yo this morning. It was a well organized service with singing, praying, reading from the new gospel of Mark, testimonies, communion, and contribution.

This was their first meeting since they have started the church plant in ‘Yo-bagawn. They are excited about all that is going on in their new church plant. In ‘Yo, there were still around 25 people at the meeting not counting the children. I taught how it takes a church to plant a church. I encouraged those in the church that if they were not going or teaching at the church plant that they need to be praying for the people of ‘Yo-bagawn. The were excited because they now all had a role in the church plant. Severen is the primary teacher in ‘Yo and is teaching our family lessons. These lessons always bring about great discussion because everyone has family. Please pray that the ‘Yo church will continue to deepen their faith and for encouragement for the ‘Yo church plant.
