Mou
Check back here often to read stories of the Mou preaching point and fellowship with them in the name of Christ.
Send them an encouraging message.
We have been accompanying, encouraging, and co-teaching with Donatien in his home village of Mou since the summer of 2005. This is a new area geographically and there is a strong Catholic influence. We are praying for those hear who know of Christ to deepen that relationship and for those who do not to come to know him.

Today was Hillarys first visit to the village. It was also our first time to visit Mou as a family. Donatien accompanied us as we head out. Unfortunately the Christians were not meeting this day. Pray for encouragement of this small group. Satan is tempting them with many lies such as too much work, that they cannot meet without somebody else to lead them, and that there is no real benefit to meeting by themselves. Pray for God\'s Spirit to triumph over these lies. This village is very far and removed from all of the other village churches at this time. They need community and God\'s strength.

This Sunday morning in Mou was attended by the very small number of the faithful (5). We spent a small amount of time attempting to sing and celebrate communion and share our money. Pray that this church will grow

Praise God for his faithfulness. We arrived in Mou to find out that there was another funeral this week. After waiting, we started our meeting and they sang, Donatien, Severen and I taught different things. Then we asked the question, “who wants to be baptized?” There were six people who were baptized. This brings the total to eight. They are a small church but their hearts are big and excited about following Jesus. Please pray that they will grow to be a strong and vibrant church. Pray that their witness will bring more of the people that are interested over the line. Thank you for your prayers.

It has been three weeks since I have been to Mou. Donatien has gone two of these weeks on his own. Before my planned absence, Donatien and I asked them if they were interested in making a commitment to become Christians. We drew a line in the sand – figuratively of course. This week when we went back there were 4 who expressed interest in being baptized and they told us that there are many others who wanted to do the same, but they were at a funeral. So, Donatien and I encouraged them to start meeting on Sundays to worship on their own and we will come back on Tuesday to baptize those who want to be baptized. So please pray that the Holy Spirit will move in the hearts of the people in Mou to start meeting on Sundays and get baptized. This has been a slow process in Mou, because of the persecution from the Catholics telling these folks that we are not teaching the good news. Pray that after Mou’s church is established they can plant several churches this area. The distance from our other churches makes it hard to keep them encouraged by other local church members.

This week in Mou there was also a funeral. When there is a funeral it takes away from attendance but there were many of the faithful that came to our meeting. Please pray that these faithful will choose to follow Jesus’ commands and be baptized. Donatien did a great job teaching the resurrection story followed by a large dose of our family lessons. Everyone loves to hear the resurrection story and the family lessons. The family lessons always brings a great discussion on family life among their village. Emma went this week and had a great time playing with all the kids in Mou. After the meeting was over she enjoyed chasing many little piglets around. As hard as she tried, she could not catch the piglets. Please continue to pray for Mou.

This is still a preaching point even though we have been teaching here over a year and a half. There are 19 people that want to be a part of the church but they have many reservations. The catholic church came into Mou many years ago and demanded many things of them after many of them put their faith in Jesus. The catholic church demanded money to have a mass, communion, wedding or a funeral. This has caused these people to be very cautious about new people coming and preaching the gospel. A catholic sister went to the people that have been gathering and told them that we were not preaching the true gospel. Even with all these challenges, the people of Mou still come and want to hear the gospel. Please pray that the hearts in Mou will be changed by the Holy Spirit to follow Jesus only. Also, I would like prayers of encouragement for Donatien. He has been doing all the teaching in Mou which is his hometown. He is doing a great job. Pray that he will not be discouraged by the time it takes for his friends and family to make a decision. One of his older sisters is the only one to have been baptized in Mou. Pray that the number increases.

Visit suspended due to harvest
Donatien and I went out two weeks ago and the folks in Mou decided that we should not come back for three weeks. Please continue to pray for the people in Mou. Also pray for Donatien and I as we decide what to teach next in Mou. Pray that the Spirit will move in Mou and many will come to be baptized.
