Andy, Melissa, and Elijah Johnson

Andy and Melissa Johnson were both privileged to grow up in Christian homes under parents who raised them to love God above all else. They are graduates of Abilene Christian University; Andy received a BA in Greek followed by an MA in Missions, while Melissa received a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Missions. They have both participated in internships in Africa including: Nairobi, Kenya; Mt. Elgon, Kenya; Mbale, Uganda; and Yatiya, Guinea. They in fact met in Kenya on an internship, were engaged in Uganda on another, and were then married just over a decade ago in Melissa's home church in the San Francisco Bay area. They arrived in Burkina Faso along with the Chankins and Burks in September of 2002 and are overseen by the 10th and Broad church of Christ in Wichita Falls, Texas. They have been blessed with three children: Elijah (Jan. '06), Amelie (Aug '07), and Isaiah (June '09). They currently focus on church planting, congregational development, and leadership training, although they are always open to new directions in which God might send them!
