Chad
and Amy Carter
We
arrived back in Dano this
month. We had a very quick
month in the States for
Chad's brother's wedding.
It was wonderful to visit
family and a joy to meet
with several congregations.
We were pleased to spend
time in Atlanta with Southern
Crescent, in Dallas with
Richardson East and in
Ulysses, KS with the church
there. We are glad to
be back in Dano though
and to celebrate our teams
second year in Burkina.
With the arrival of the
Chankin's we were also
able to celebrate the
togetherness of our team.
(The first time we have
been in one place in three
years)
This
last month saw a new addition
to our family. Daisy is
our 3 month old yellow
lab. She was a gift from
a minister who is a breeder
in Texas. She made a wonderful
trip across the ocean
and is now in training
to be a wonderful family
dog and guard dog. Her
energy never ends.

Please
pray for our transition
back into Dano life. We
are so excited to be back
in full-time language
study and pray that we
will not be easily frustrated.

It
is hard to believe another month
has passed already. We said
our good-byes to friends and
family in the States and headed
back to Burkina on Sept. 18.
We made it back with no problems
(quite a task with a four month
old). We arrived in Dano to
find that our phone and electricity
no longer worked, but after
a few days we were able to get
everything back in order and
have been settling in nicely.
Archie and I have both been
feeling a little under the weather,
but I think we are on the mend
and Emma has been doing great.
She has adjusted well and seems
to like the many visitors who
have come to greet her. We are
thankful to be home again and
with our whole team for a few
weeks before the Johnsons leave
for furlough. Please pray for
us as we continue language study
and adjusting to life in Burkina
with an infant.
Thank
you all for your support and
prayers.
Archie,
Mandy and Emma

Andy
and Melissa Johnson
September
had a rough start with an emergency
trip to Ouagadougou to see the vet
about our dog. Although Samson eventually
died in his sleep, we were glad to
know that we did everything we could
and that he wasn't in much pain. The
month picked up quickly, though, as
we got to host two sets of visitors
in our home: a mother/daughter combo
that had come to visit friends, and
a married couple studying French (we
love the international community -
Brennen is Canadian and Kate is Kenyan!).
The best news, of course, was the
return of our teammates the Carters
and the Chankins. For the first time
since spring, 2001, our team is together
as four families - what a treat!
We
are heading for furlough next week.
We will be stateside three months,
returning to Burkina in early January.
We want to see as many of you as possible,
so please email and let us know when
we can get together. Keep us in your
prayers as we travel about the states,
and pray that God does great things
among the Dagara.
See
you soon!

God
has truly filled our cup this month. We
were able to welcome our teammates the Chankins
and Carters back to the field. God has blessed
us with work that is full of surprises.
The Dagara usually sit on stools carved
out of one piece of wood which they either
carry on their head (if they are a woman)
or strap to the back of their bicycle (if
they are a man). Being an admirer of this
craftsmanship, I requested they order one
made for me. They surprised me with the
biggest Dagara stool I'd ever seen. But
a greater surprise that same meeting was
them showing me the 15 people they had baptized
in our absence the previous Sunday. We were
also surprised as we baptized our first
two believers out in Boncholi. Please pray
for these two men, that God would soon add
to their number those who are being saved.
Lastly, we request praise and prayer for
our nightguard Bayuo who was baptized this
week in the midst of some pretty severe
persecution. Click
this to read more about his situation.
