We hope you all experienced a very happy holiday season. Ours was quiet here in Dagaraland, but it was quite special, as it was Emma's first Christmas. The month of December was full of ups and downs healthwise, but as I write today, it looks like everyone is on the mend. Please continue to pray for our physical health, especially Emma's. Living 3 hours away from a reliable doctor is one of the major drawbacks to living here in Burkina Faso. Fortunately, we were all healthy on Christmas day and we enjoyed a BBQ with our teammates, the Carters. The weather has been warmer than normal for this time of year, so we decided to have 4th of July kind of Christmas. Our guesthouse is nearly finished, and we are anxiously awaiting our first guests due to arrive in February. The Hendrix family, missionaries working in Lyon, France is planning to spend several weeks with us. We are also looking forward to having the Johnsons back with us at the end of January. We pray that you feel God's blessings this New Year.

We have had a wonderful month of December! We made our second trip out to California to spend Christmas with Melissa's family and got back to Texas in time to celebrate the New Year with Andy's family. We certainly enjoyed all the 'perks' of celebrating the holidays in America, although it was at times a little overwhelming for us!
The biggest news is our new puppy Toby! He is a beautiful chocolate lab who will soon be experiencing the culture shock of moving from America to Burkina Faso. We are enjoying having him around the house, and Andy's parents are having a great time with their grandpuppy (although they are more than ready to have a real grandchild!).
We have had a great furlough over these last couple of months. We have been blessed beyond imagination by our friends, family, and supporters. We've enjoyed real-time television, football season, fall leaves, great church singing, mall shopping, barbeque, and a host of other treats. We are now preparing to head back to our home in Burkina Faso January 25 and are very excited about seeing our teammates and Dagara friends and getting back to work.
We'll be in Wichita Falls, TX, from now until we leave (940-766-5374) -- we'd love to hear from you!
Blessings.

We have enjoyed spending time with our families over the holidays. Daniel had the opportunity of getting to know his cousins a little better, and many of the members of our family traveled so that we could be together again for Christmas. We also were able to introduce the members of our parents' home congregation to their brothers and sisters in Christ, who live in Dagara land through a presentation that we made there. We had such an exciting year watching God raise up churches among the Dagara. We cannot wait to see what he has in store for 2005. We will still be with our family in Texas for most of the rest of January. If you would like to see us or talk to us on the phone, please email us and we will give you information on how to contact us.

May the LORD Bless You and Keep You,

Aaron, Andrea, and Daniel Burk

At this moment the Carter household is FULL of excitement. The long awaited well troupe (six months late) is arriving in all their glory (half a dozen large trucks) to finish our well. Life in Dano will be a totally different experience with water. The month of December has been full. We have had a time of helpful reevaluation of language learning techniques. With the help of SIL we found unknown strengths and new learning methods that will help us as we stretch for fluency in Dagara. We had the joy of participating in the area wide prayer meeting in Ghana. It was inspiring to see a mature national movement that is multiplying and growing in God. We also found many goods in Ghana that we had been missing. We did have a scare with our dog, Daisy, earlier this week. Her stomach was bloated, she wouldn't eat or drink, and she was motionless. We were concerned she would die. A vet came out several times, but nothing helped. We finally called a vet in the states and found out it was just a bad case of gas! With his suggestion we put a tube in her stomach to relieve the pressure. She is back to her energetic self. We also had some friends from the capital stay with us for the New Year. The people of Dano were in total shock as we fired some bottle-rockets. The explosions, lights, and bursting colors were definitely more than this town had seen.
