Last
month started with the joy of the water folks
finally arriving but it was short lived. It turns
out we still have no water and are back on the
long road to finding a solution. Overall though
excitement has not been lacking around here. We
found out this month that we are pregnant! We
are very excited and are specifically telling
folks this early to solicit prayers. Please pray
for Amy's health and the protection of the pregnancy
given all the extra risk factors here in Africa.
This does mean that we will be in the States for
furlough this fall and we look forward to seeing
all of you when we are there. In other news this
month, when Amy has not been horribly sick she
has been making extra efforts in language learning
to reach her goals before she leaves for the States.
Chad is back in school. He is tagging along with
a Dagara literacy class in the village of Ya-ba-gan.
The students are pretty amazed that he can read
and write the language better than they can but
still have no idea what he is saying ("My
head is stuck in the beans"). We kick off
this next month with a visit from Amy's Uncle,
Willis Wright.

This
month we have many things for which to be thankful.
First of all, our family has had a very healthy
month. Thank you for your continued prayers on
our behalf. Second, our teammates, the Johnsons,
returned to Dano after a wonderful furlough. We
are happy to have them back. Third, our guest
house is in the final phase and with a little
luck, it will be ready for our first visitors
next week. We ask your continued prayers for language
acquisition and for Archie's ongoing study with
our night guard, Donatien. We also ask that you
continue to remember the Dagara people in your
prayers. This week Mandy's language teacher is
allowing her children to be involved in a common
animistic ritual of dedication. While we do not
entirely understand the meaning of this dedication,
we do know that it is not in celebration of the
True and Living God. Please pray for Rebecca and
her children as we continue to witness to them.

We
start this
month back
in Burkina
Faso with
our friends
here in Dano.
We had a wonderful
furlough,
filled with
good things:
opportunities
to talk about God's
work among
the Dagara,
great Mexican
food, new
and renewed
friendships,
exciting fellowship,
and a holiday
season with
family. We
were
also blessed
with an uneventful
trip back;
our puppy
Toby was very
well
behaved, and
all our luggage
even arrived
on time!
We
were reminded
once again
of what great
teammates
we have. Archie
Chankin
met us at
the airport,
having already
come to the
capital a
few days early
to get work
done on our
car. We were
then welcomed
back to Dano
by the rest
of our teammates
who had fixed
supper for
that night
as well as
put several
meals in our
freezer. It
is a blessing
to be a part
of such a
team.
We
look forward
this month
to visits
from some
good friends
as well as
gearing back
up in our
ministry among
the Dagara.
Please keep
us in your
prayers, that
we might begin
this term
solely focused
on giving
God glory
in
all we do.

January
has been filled
with family
time marked
by both excitement
and sadness.
We took a
two-night
vacation in
Leakey, Texas
where we enjoyed
hiking and
horseback
riding. We
shared with
Andrea's parents'
church what
God has been
doing among
the Dagara.
Andrea and
I got to spend
a romantic
night on the
riverwalk,
in San Antonio,
Texas while
Daniel went
to a movie
with his grandparents.
Then last
Wednesday
we received
some news
that helped
us to appreciate
these special
moments even
more. My uncle
lost his youngest
son. He was
a medic in
the army stationed
north of Baghdad.
Please pray
for his family.
This month
we will be
spending time
with our supporting
congregation,
the Homewood
Church of
Christ (Birmingham,
Alabama),
several members
of which met
us at the
Airport. It
has been fun
getting to
see our friends
and sharing
news and laughter
with them.May
the LORD Bless
You and Keep
You,
Aaron,
Andrea, and
