Greetings
from steamy Texas!
The long
anticipated day has come and gone! The Lord blessed us with
a safe delivery of our first daughter, Amelie Elizabeth Johnson,
on August 10 at 11:55 pm. By a margin of just five minutes,
she managed to make of herself a great anniversary gift for
her grandparents Joe and Joy Mears (Melissa's parents who
had made the trip from California), who were married 51 years
ago on her birthday. She weighed 7 lbs, 4 oz, is 20.5 inches
long, and (thankfully) looks more like her mother than ol'
Dad. Melissa and Amelie are both in great health and were
discharged from the hospital after only a day and a half.
As our pediatrician put it, the greatest danger to Amelie's
health these days is her big brother Elijah, but he has been
overall very sweet to her, offering her goodnight kisses before
bed every evening. Needless to say, our cups are running over
these days!
We'll
be here in Wichita Falls, TX, from now until August 28, at
which time we'll head to California. We'll be there until
September 15 when we go back to Texas, eventually to leave
for Burkina October 15 (provided we can get Amelie's passport
in time!). All this time, you can write us at our regular
email address or give us a call on our cell at (940) 632-8558.
Thank you for all your prayers for a safe delivery -- God
heard and responded.
Blessings,
The Johnsons
