Our
month of December was full of excitement. We spent most
of it on the road visiting with family and with a supporting
congregation, Southern Crescent in Atlanta, Georgia.
We were blessed to be able to spend Christmas with both
Chad and Amy’s side of the family. Noah enjoyed his
first Christmas and did amazingly well with the traveling.
At the end of the month we finished up our necessary
errands and shopping before we packed our trunks for
our return to Burkina Faso. With much excitement, we
arrived in Ouagadougou with our teammates the Burks
there to greet us. We have been glad to be back, getting
settled in, and looking forward to getting back in the
swing of things. Noah has been a hit with the Dagara
people, and he is usually looking around at all the
new sights. Please pray for Chad to get over a bad respiratory
infection he caught in the States and for Noah’s health.
Thanks
for your prayers and support
In Christ

What
a great month December was! The house was filled with
Christmas decorations, and, the temperatures were much
cooler. We worked hard to maintain our holiday cheer,
with cookies and breads always baking and Christmas
music always blaring out our open windows. It was also
good month of village visits, with many in the village
of Nyi-Kpier creeping closer to making a decision for
Christ, along with our usual leadership training and
church visits in three other villages.
Christmas
Eve was our ‘American’ Christmas, as we hosted our team’s
annual Christmas Mexican Fiesta. We welcomed the Burks
and our friends the Hausers (missionaries in Ivory Coast)
into our home for a potluck meal of every kind of Mexican
food we could make. We spent the afternoon playing games
and worshipping. Christmas Day we went to church in
Dano-Pari, where we participated in a wonderfully joyful
worship service that culminated in three young men being
baptized. We spent the rest of the day visiting our
friends around Dano – we were so tired we almost didn’t
have energy to open our presents that night (almost!).
We then spent a relaxing New Years with a game night
at the Burks.
Our
big family news is that we turned in our paperwork to
start the process of adopting a Burkinabe child! God
has certainly been clearing the way for us, as everything
so far has been easier than anticipated. We’ll be writing
more about that in months to come. Please keep this
covered in prayers, that soon God would fill our arms
with a child.

We
have had a great last month. We were able to celebrate
Christmas with both of our families. The New Year
went off with out any problems. Mandy continues
to have good doctor visits and the doctor says
that everything looks good.

Happy
Holidays and a Happy New Year from the Burks!
We had fun this month to distract us from the
families and friends that we miss so much. We
had a white elephant gift exchange and a huge
tex-mex feast with our teammates the Johnsons
and another missionary family, the Hausers, who
came down for the festivities. We hosted a Christmas
party for all the Dagara who work for our families.
We enjoyed getting three rounds of Christmas gifts
(1: gifts bought for each other in Burkina, 2:
gifts bought for each other and gifts received
from our families which the Carter's transported
to us on their flight when they returned to the
field on January 2nd, and 3: a package from our
family). We were extremely blessed with gifts
from family and supporters. Thanks to everyone
who was so generous to us. We rang in the New
Year with the Johnson's and Andy and I even stayed
up late one night watching Texas beat USC. One
of the things we are most excited about is having
back two old teammates and a new one, their new
baby boy Noah. We enjoyed having a little team
reunion / curry night. We still miss the Chankins,
but it is fun to have more of our team back with
us.
We
are looking forward to 2006 and to getting back
to a regular schedule. We hope by God's grace
to see many new churches and maturing Dagara Christians
this year.
