Greetings from the dust bowl! These days we are able to wipe a table clean and come back a few hours later to write our names quite visibly in the dust that has resettled.

We’ve enjoyed a lot of variety in our lives this month. We added on a hallway to our house, connecting our outside kitchen with the rest of the house. We went to a Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair in the capital city (complete with Christmas music, snacks, raffles…and 100+ degree temperatures!). We celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary at a Bed-and-Breakfast. We also made it down south to celebrate Thanksgiving with the missionaries living in Togo. The Thanksgiving feast (provided entirely by the Kara, Togo, team) was a highlight, as was the children’s Sports Camp in the days following.

In the midst of all that, we even managed to do a little village work! Andy continued working with the four villages with which he primarily works; additionally, he was able to take some of the members of the struggling church at Mebar to visit the thriving church at Nakaar for some badly needed encouragement. Melissa continued breaking new ground by teaching the children of the Dano-Pari church this past Sunday. It is such a blessing to be here doing this work; we are so grateful God allows to participate in His mission!

God bless you all!
Andy and Melissa

The month of November was a great one for the Chankin family. Archie flew back to the States at the beginning of the month and we have been able to enjoy visiting with his family for the rest of it. We are certainly enjoying the cooler temperatures and are happy to able to wear jeans and sweatshirts. We enjoyed a great Thanksgiving celebration with many of Archie’s extended family in attendance. It was great to catch up with everyone and to introduce Emma to some of her distant cousins. Mandy had a good visit to the doctor and it looks like the baby is growing just fine. Please continue to pray for us as we go through all the transitions of visiting family and friends and getting ready for the new baby. Specifically, please be with Emma as she has had a little bit of difficulty adjusting to all the new faces and experiences that furlough offers. Also, please remember our teammates who are in Burkina during this holiday season. It is not easy to be away from loved ones especially this time of year. Pray that they are encouraged and at peace.

We would love to hear from any of you, so please feel free to contact us at 512-785-1811

Blessings,
Archie, Mandy and Emma

This has been a festive month so far. We've seen the leaves fall from the trees and the nights get cooler. We've had two thanksgiving celebrations and put up our Christmas decorations. After our Thanksgiving celebration with the Kabiye team in Kara, Togo, Daniel enjoyed a sports camp organized and run by the dads of all the MK's for four mission teams here in West Africa. All the kids not only learned how to jump higher and run faster but how to run the race of life in such a way as to get the prize (the theme verse for the camp was I Cor. 9:24). I was real proud of Daniel, because he tried really hard and had a good time despite the fact that he missed the first day with Malaria.

This month has been a bit of a struggle with getting people to show up to meetings since it is time for them to harvest the cotton. The villages don't know when the cotton truck is coming. It just shows up and everyone just has to drop everything to fill it up. If they do not help, they take a big financial penalty. By January, most of this will be done, but pray that we will continue to find ways to glorify God among the Dagara even in the midst of these frustrations. Please pray for Zengown this month since we are starting a new big push to evangelize this village.

May the LORD Bless You and Keep You
