The
Reach of God's Grace in Burkina Faso
"By
God's grace, we intend to plant indigenous churches and
empower Dagara Christians to be a light to the lost."
James
and Barb Massie and I were honored that God allowed us to
spend 4 days observing his grace settling onto the Dagara
people group. All of us (supporting churches) who partner
with the Dano team in taking the good news to this area
of Burkina Faso have much to be thankful for as God is causing
years of prayers and dreams to be fulfilled.
Reminicent
of the first century, we witnessed the birth of a church
when after Andy Johnson taught the 13th lesson at a preaching
point, we hiked down to a pond of water and 19 people were
baptized. African style praises, written by a new Dagara
Christian, are beginning to ascend to God from several villiages
in the bush around Dano. Young believers only weeks in the
faith are being trained to teach others of the solid hope
available to them through a personal and loving God.
We are
proud to be supporting Archie and Mandy Chankin and thank
God for our participation in the reach of his Grace to the
Dagara people.
"May
all the peoples praise you, O God...may the nations be glad
and sing for joy." Psalm 67: 3-4

We
are currently in the states for our first official furlough.
September 14th is the expected due date for Noah and
we will be in America until the end of December. We,
of course, would like to get together with you and your
family. Please call us on our cel phone at 682-429-7063
so that we can set up a time to fellowship and share
about God's kingdom around the world. (That cel phone
will be active the entire time we are in the states).
Now
for the FUN! Setting up a Baby Pool is one of the things
I have looked forward to about fatherhood. These days
the digital world brings us closer together. You can
participate in the joy by visiting http://www.expectnet.com/
On the left hand side it will ask you for the game name.
Enter: CarterBaby (don't forget the capitals) We hope
you will play and share in the fun. We look forward
to our continuing time in the states and a healthy baby
to take back to Burkina.
Thanks
for your prayers and support
In Christ

After
months of gallivanting over what seemed like all of
West Africa, it was good to be at home for the entire
month of August. We had a very welcome month of normalcy,
simply going about our work here in Dano. We were thrilled
to see a new church planted in the village of Sorian,
as 22 people were baptized this month. They have already
begun meeting together on Sundays and are a very exciting
bunch of people to be around. We were also privileged
to see 12 people baptized in Dano-Pari, the result of
evangelism done by one of our leaders, Severen. Please
pray that God blesses all of these new Christians with
perseverance and wisdom as they begin their walk with
God. It’s also been a good month preparing other teaching
materials. Melissa has made a lot of progress typing
in the Dagara version of Train and Multiply, our leadership-training
curriculum that we’re in the process of translating.
Andy
has also made a lot of progress preparing his study
on the gospel of Mark. We’d like to continue to ask
you to be praying for our family. Had the adoption not
fallen through, September 1 was to have been the date
that we returned to the states to adopt our first child;
we’re both still a little down about that falling through.
Please also pray for Melissa’s mother, Joy Mears, as
she began her lymphoma treatments this month.
May
God bless you and your families!

August
was a good month at the Chankin household. Mandy
and I hosted visitors from our supporting church
– Vic King, James and Barbara Massie. They were
able to see the work here and spend some time
encouraging our team.
In
the village of Dagore, the new Christian chose
a few leaders. I began the leadership training
with those leaders and now they have started teaching,
praying and writing songs. Last week the leaders
taught the Noah and the flood lesson. There was
a visitor who had never heard this story and she
let our gasps when she heard that the entire earth
was flooded and God would start over with Noah.
It is exciting to see the new Christians start
on their journeys of the Christian life. Please
continue to pray that these leaders and all the
new Christians will pray for God’s strength and
guidance.
Emma
is a constant joy in our lives. She has a few
more teeth coming in so we have had a few blue
days. But when she is feeling well it is fun to
watch her try to sing the head-shoulders-knees
and toes song. She gets so excited doing the movements
that sometimes when she touches her toes she falls
on her head. Mandy’s pregnancy is progressing
well and we are looking forward to finding out
the gender soon. Please continue to pray for our
family’s health.
Blessings,
Archie, Mandy and Emma

This
has been a challenging but good month. Daniel
and Aaron have both had their respective bouts
with malaria and our 3 month old German shepherd
puppy died. But God took care of us and we are
all healthy again and we have placed an order
with a family in Ouagadougou that breeds their
Labrador retrievers. We should have a new puppy
in December. Also our night guard and good friend
Bayuo finally had his first child - a little girl
named Clarisse. We also enjoyed meeting with visitors
from Oak Hills and we also enjoyed a surprise
visit from the Brooks, a missionary family from
Ghana. We celebrated Daniel's 5th birthday and
are also excited about getting started this month
with Daniel's kindergarten.
We
also found out some interesting information about
the Nakar / Nyinyime area. Nakar has 4 distinct
neighborhoods, and although there are about 100
Christians that go to the Nakar church, they are
all from the same neighborhood. Nyinyime has a
similar situation with 6 neighborhoods. So I am
beginning to cast a vision for them to plant churches
in the other three neighborhoods.Please
pray for open doors and wisdom and courage for
the churches in Nakar and Nyinyime.
May
the LORD Bless You and Keep You
Aaron, Andrea, and Daniel
