When
you're hot, you're hot, and when you're not…you must
be somewhere other than Burkina Faso in March! Despite
the soaring temperatures (peaking out above 120), we've
had a pretty good month. We are thoroughly enjoying
having all four families of our team together on the
field at one time. This has not happened all that often
(a grand total of two weeks over the last 2.5 years,
to be exact), so it is a real treat. We are very proud
of our teammates, and it is a privilege to be all together.
Times
are exciting in our ministry. Andy is going to be starting
two new villages over the coming weeks. In both, he
will be ministering in conjunction with leaders from
other villages. Additionally, our teammates will be
adding new villages to their schedules - it's a thrill
to play a small part in watching God's word spread among
the Dagara.
Please
keep us in your prayers as we both continue working
on language, leadership training materials, and our
personal walks with God. Any prayers you could spare
for a cold front packed with snow and freezing temperatures
would be appreciated, too!

March
was a good month! Our whole team is back in Dano once
again following months of furloughs. We are now back
in full swing with village visits, translation projects,
and, of course, lots of meals together. Archie and Chad
have chosen to begin the evangelistic series in Dagore.
They have met with all the appropriate people and have
been given permission to teach. Please pray that Dagore
be open to hearing the words of the Lord and that Archie
and Chad can communicate well in the Dagara language.
Archie's personal study with our night guard, Donatien,
continues to go well. We are excited about Donatien's
enthusiasm to learn more of God's word. Mandy is excited
about beginning translation on a curriculum specifically
designed for women. The lessons are all about women
of faith in the Bible. All the ladies on our team hope
to be able to begin teaching these lessons within the
next few months.
Thank
you for your continued prayers for our health. We are
so thankful that we have been relatively healthy. Emma
continues to grow and change everyday. She is an amazing
blessing in our lives and teaches us each day more about
God's love for and patience with His children. We would
love to hear from you, so please send an email if you
get a chance.
God
Bless You,
the
Chankin family

Though
we miss our families already, we are excited to
be back in Burkina. We are enjoying being here
in Dano with ALL of the members of our team on
the field. We enjoyed celebrating my wife's birthday
and Melissa's birthday this month. Our teammates
also had a cook out for us. We got together for
a Passover feast and an Easter brunch, and we
got together with visitors from the States and
Togo. With all this partying, one might wonder
what is being accomplished.
Well,
this week, Aaron has gone out to a new preaching
point where we will start next Thursday and our
team and our churches are pursuing at least three
other new preaching points. We are also about
to start the process of translating our leadership
training curriculum into Dagara. We are also pushing
Nakar and Nyinyime to start new church plants.
Pray
that God continue to move quickly to bring those
in darkness into his marvelous light.

This
month we had the joy of hosting the Henderson family
from Southern Crescent in Atlanta, GA. We enjoyed showing
them around Dano. They had the unique opportunity to
compare the new work among the Dagara with the mature
work among the Eveh in Tabligbo, Togo. They, being the
hands that distributed children’s vitamins in Nakar,
were able to witness love to young Christians. Be sure
to bug the Hendersons with many questions about their
visit. We know they have some good stories. Their visit
greatly encouraged us, especially their perspective
as former missionaries in New Guinea, and we know they
will encourage you in the States.
This
month our family found another lab puppy, Suzie (full
name: Black-Eyed Susan). She is a joy and we are glad
to have a dog around the house again.
We
completed the preliminary visits for Dagore and Soryan.
Archie and Chad will be starting to team-teach in Dagoreh
this next week. Please pray for this village. Although
we have an invitation and think it looks receptive,
we have sensed some hostility regarding people leaving
their idols and abandoning ancestor worship.
Praise
God! We saw people digging the trench for our water
as we left for Ouaga for a pregnancy check-up. Hopefully,
next month we will let you share the joy of running
through sprinklers with us and flushing the toilet just
for fun.
